Our minds often tell us to do more, act more, produce more, work more, strive more.
But in reality, everything is taken care of by itself. The sun rises on its own. Your lungs breathe in and out. The food is there in the supermarket. You get the picture.
It’s not the tendency of the mind to just sit back and do nothing, to let things happen on their own.
But there are moments in your life when your mind drops back, you relax, and let things be.
Maybe it happens when you come home from work and just sit for 10 minutes.
When you play or take a walk.
When you practice an instrument or draw.
In these moments, there is no boredom. There is just a new supply of energy.
Maybe today is the day to pause for 10 minutes and do nothing. Not even watching your breath, no body awareness, no embracing the clear sky behind your thoughts.
It’s one active impulse to let it all drop and allow life to happen for a short period of time.
Maybe these 10 minutes of nothingness are all you need for clarity.
When you read this, put a timer for 10 minutes, and just sit back, lie down, or walk around.
Don’t watch your thoughts, but don’t follow them either.
Don’t focus on anything particular in your surroundings. Whenever you look at something, let it be just that.
Let smells, sounds, and anything just come.
And let it go again.
There is no way to do this right. It’s the permission to just let it all be.
Let me know if this helped you or if you have any further questions.
I wish you a wonderful day,
Your -do nothing- David HiP
