As I’m writing this, I’ve been fasting for 40+ hours.
I could tell you it feels horrible, but it doesn’t.
I could tell you it transformed my life, but it didn’t.
It’s still been a fascinating experience.
deepening calmness, increasing serenity.
It made it easier to connect with the present moment,
despite or because of feelings of hunger and their absence.
It gives a lightness, which is not drunkenness.
Food feels different, less taken for granted, more illuminated.
There’s research on the healing abilities of fasting. It can aid in weight loss by using stored fat for energy.
It promotes cellular repair through autophagy, potentially improving longevity and reducing the risk of diseases. Another outcome is enhancing insulin sensitivity, which lowers the risk of type 2 diabetes, and has potential benefits for heart and brain health. And those are just some of the benefits.
Try it yourself.
Dive in deeply and do 48 hours+.
Or do it more wisely.
I started with intermittent fasting. 16 hours fasting, 8 hours eating. In practice, it’s either skipping breakfast or dinner. It prepares you for longer fasts, which intensifies but does not completely change the feeling.
It will help to know how hunger comes and go. How it feels to have an empty stomach.
Once you’re comfortable with this, try 24 hours, then 48, then 72.
Let me know your experiences with fasting.
Have a wonderful day,
David
