Mindletter 3:

Do this to 10x your happiness

I have spent innumerable days waking up, snoozing the alarm clock because I wanted to spend some more time just lying in bed. The bed felt the most comfortable place to be in. I dreaded the things I needed to do. They seemed like a chore to get over with until I could go back home and distract myself and find some medium happiness again. Whatever it was I was doing: Going to some classes, going to work, even just going on a trip with friends. It seemed to be difficult, things could go wrong, and problems would be on the way.

Today, it doesn’t hurt to write those sentences. From my perspective now, it’s obvious that I didn’t have a great time, enjoy the stuff I could learn, or challenge myself with overcoming the problems. I set myself up for mediocre results and unhappiness along the way.

Apart from the other changes I made to my life, one thing I do differently now is waking up with the knowledge that the day to come is going to be amazing. Regardless of what happens. It’s a wonder to even breathe, to be able to improve my health, to learn new skills, and to meet other people. What a waste it was to let all these opportunities go by before. But then again, I didn’t know better. Now I know better, so I can do better. And those days, when I forced myself to do the things I didn’t want to do, set me up for today. They gave me the skills I needed to pursue my goals today.

When I wake up nowadays, I know: Today is an amazing, wonderful day. I do the things I need to do to live the life I want. I have amazing adventures today. I eat wonderful foods, have a great time with the ones I love or my friends. I can return to eternal silence, whenever I need to. Whatever comes up, I can and will handle it!”

This doesn’t mean that I will enjoy everything I do, that there are no problems. But it well means that I set myself up for the best possible version of the day to come, for the adventures I know I want to have, for the amazing foods I know I will eat, for the amazing people I know I will meet and talk to.

Your wishes and dreams might be completely different. I hope they will be. I keep some of them to myself, of course. But I hope, you will incorporate some of this into your life. Create the life you want in your mind. Write aspects of it down. Visualize others in your mind. Reflect on them often. Be comfortable to have them.

When you wake up, put them back in your mind. Know that your day will bring them to you.

Now I know, happiness cannot be calculated. This might make the title I used somewhat of a clickbait. But consider this: If you start the day with a positive mindset in which you create the life you want in your mind will shift your reality more powerfully than any numerical quantification could show. Whether this is because you create powerful hormones in your body at the expense of those pesky stress hormones which will ruin your fun, or because you manifest a reality that suits your dreams doesn’t matter.

This is it for now.

Thanks for reading. I deeply appreciate you taking the time to do so.

Hope you have a wonderful day!
